How to Make Banana Tea Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) softened unsalted butter and 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in 4 large eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  5. Mash 3 ripe bananas with a fork. Add the mashed bananas and the dry ingredients alternately to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
