How to Make Brazilian Chocolate Flan
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. Dust generously with granulated sugar, tapping out any excess.
- In a blender, combine all ingredients (ensure the eggs are at room temperature for best results). Blend until completely smooth and frothy (approximately 3 minutes).
- Carefully pour the flan mixture into the prepared bundt pan. Place the pan in a larger baking dish. Pour enough hot water into the larger dish to come halfway up the sides of the bundt pan (bain-marie).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. If the flan seems to be browning too quickly, loosely tent the top with aluminum foil.
- Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. Once cool, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flan to set completely.
- To unmold, run a thin knife around the edges of the flan. Invert the bundt pan onto a serving plate. Gently lift the pan to release the flan. If needed, gently tap the bottom of the pan. Serve chilled, topped with whipped cream (optional).
