How to Make Mamie's Million Dollar Fudge

  1. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch square baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a large heatproof bowl, combine 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips, 6 ounces German sweet chocolate, chopped, 1 cup marshmallow creme, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup milk and 2 cups granulated sugar.
  4. Bring the milk and sugar mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to stir continuously for 6-7 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and immediately pour the hot milk mixture over the chocolate mixture.
  7. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans recommended) and 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter. Beat with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until the chocolate is completely melted and the fudge is smooth and creamy.
  8. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Let the fudge cool completely at room temperature for at least 3 hours, or until firm. Refrigerate for faster cooling.
  10. Cut into small squares and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
