How to Make Oatmeal Beer Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 5x9 inch loaf pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup rolled oats, 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 cup lukewarm water, and 1 cup beer (any kind will work!). Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven. Generously brush the top of the loaf with 2 tablespoons of melted butter, reserving 1 tablespoon for later.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 30-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and brush with the reserved 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  9. Let cool slightly in the pan before slicing and serving warm.
