How to Make Sausage Stuffed Pasta Shells
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until fully cooked and crumbly. Drain off any excess grease.
- In the same skillet, stir in the salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the egg is lightly set.
- Stir in the breadcrumbs until the mixture is well combined and slightly thickened.
- Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish.
- Fill each pasta shell with the sausage mixture. Arrange the filled shells in the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the remaining spaghetti sauce evenly over the stuffed shells.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese, and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the shells are heated through.
