How to Make Sausage Stuffed Pasta Shells

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until fully cooked and crumbly. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. In the same skillet, stir in the salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the egg is lightly set.
  5. Stir in the breadcrumbs until the mixture is well combined and slightly thickened.
  6. Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish.
  7. Fill each pasta shell with the sausage mixture. Arrange the filled shells in the prepared baking dish.
  8. Pour the remaining spaghetti sauce evenly over the stuffed shells.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil, sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese, and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the shells are heated through.
