How to Make The Marinade

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients until well combined. Ensure the oil is thoroughly emulsified.
  2. Place your chosen protein (flank steak, chicken breasts, fish fillets, etc.) in a resealable freezer bag.
  3. Pour the marinade over the protein, ensuring it's fully coated. Seal the bag, pressing out excess air.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for maximum flavor penetration. Flip the bag halfway through.
  5. When ready to cook, remove the protein from the marinade and discard the marinade. (Do not reuse marinade.)
  6. Grill, pan-fry, or bake the protein to your desired level of doneness. For flank steak, grill over medium-high heat for approximately 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  7. Let the protein rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
