Ingredients for Beef N Green Bean Pie

  • Ground Beef
  • 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 green bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • Green Beans
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

How to Make Beef N Green Bean Pie

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 lb ground beef, 1/2 medium onion (chopped), and 1/2 green bell pepper (chopped) until the meat is no longer pink.
  2. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce, 1 (15-ounce) can green beans (drained), 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
  4. Simmer for 8 minutes, or until heated through.
  5. Meanwhile, separate 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough into 8 triangles.
  6. Place the crescent roll triangles in an ungreased 9-inch pie plate, points toward the center.
  7. Press the dough onto the bottom and up the sides to form a crust. Seal any perforations.
  8. In a medium bowl, beat 1 large egg and mix in 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Spread the egg and cheese mixture evenly over the crust.
  10. Stir 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese into the beef and green bean mixture.
  11. Spoon the beef mixture into the crust.
  12. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon paprika and the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  13. Bake, uncovered, at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  14. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
