How to Make Chocolate Nut Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs and ½ cup (1 stick) melted unsalted butter. Press firmly into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan (or a 9x9 inch pan for thicker bars).
  3. Bake for 8 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  5. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 (14 ounce) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, stirring constantly until smooth and melted.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate mixture evenly over the prepared crust.
  7. Let cool for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped nuts (your choice!) over the chocolate layer.
  9. Using a heat-safe rubber spatula (or clean hands!), press the topping firmly into the chocolate layer.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, using the spatula to gently press down on the topping halfway through baking.
  11. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
  12. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
