How to Make Ciabatta Bread
- Combine all ingredients (see ingredient list below) in your bread machine pan according to your machine's manufacturer's instructions.
- Select the dough cycle on your bread machine and press start.
- Once the cycle is complete, the dough will be very sticky and wet. Do not add more flour!
- Gently turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Cover with a large bowl and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Lightly flour two baking sheets or line them with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough in half. Gently shape each half into a roughly 3x14 inch oval. (Avoid excessive kneading).
- Place the loaves on the prepared baking sheets. Dimple the surface of each loaf with your fingers, creating a textured top. Lightly flour the tops of the loaves.
- Cover the baking sheets loosely with plastic wrap and let the loaves rise in a warm, draft-free place for 45-60 minutes, or until almost doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Gently dimple the dough surfaces again before baking. Place the loaves in the center of the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, spritzing the loaves with water every 5-10 minutes for a crispier crust. Internal temperature should reach 200-210°F (93-99°C).
- Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
