How to Make Crescent Cheeseburger Pie
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9 or 10-inch pie plate.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with onion, garlic, bell pepper, oregano, and chili flakes over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
- Season the beef mixture with seasoned salt and black pepper. Stir in 1/4-1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
- Add the tomato sauce and mushrooms to the skillet. Simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender.
- Unroll one package of crescent rolls and separate the dough into triangles. Arrange the triangles in the pie plate, pointed ends towards the center, pressing the edges together to form a crust.
- In a bowl, beat together 2 egg yolks and 3 egg whites until well combined. Pour half of the egg mixture over the crescent roll crust.
- Spoon the meat mixture into the crust over the egg mixture. Arrange the cheese slices over the beef.
- Pour the remaining egg mixture over the cheese.
- Unroll the second package of crescent rolls. Combine four sections to form a 12x16-inch rectangle. Press edges and perforations together, then roll into a 12-inch square.
- In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of cold water.
- Brush the edges of the bottom crust with the egg wash. Place the rolled-out crescent roll square on top of the filling. Trim, seal, and flute the edges.
- Cut two small slits in the top crust. Brush the top crust with the remaining egg wash. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese (optional).
- Loosely cover the edges of the pie with foil strips to prevent over-browning.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Loosely cover the center of the pie with foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the pie stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
