How to Make Debra's Hot Christmas Warmer

  1. In a large stockpot, combine 2 cups cranberry juice, 1 cup apple cider, 1 orange (juiced and zested), 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 2 cinnamon sticks, 4 whole cloves, 1 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp ground allspice, and 1/4 tsp ground ginger.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugars are dissolved and the spices have infused the liquid.
  3. Carefully transfer the mixture to a large slow cooker.
  4. Add 1 bottle (750ml) of chilled sparkling wine or club soda just before serving. (Optional: Add 1/2 cup brandy or rum for an adult beverage)
  5. Keep warm on low setting for up to 2 hours. Garnish with orange slices and cinnamon sticks before serving.
