How to Make Deep Dish Pizza
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Separate 8 refrigerated biscuits (each about 1.6 oz) and roll each into a thin, 1/4-inch circle.
- Line the bottom and sides of a 9x9 inch baking dish with the rolled-out biscuits, pressing gently to form a sealed crust.
- Bake the crust for 15 minutes.
- While the crust bakes, cook 1 lb Italian sausage, 1/2 lb ground beef (optional), and 1/2 cup chopped ham in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Add 1/2 cup chopped green bell peppers and 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional).
- Heat thoroughly until the sauce simmers for about 5 minutes.
- Once the crust is partially baked, gently press down on the center of the crust to create a slight well.
- Do not press down on the sides of the crust.
- Sprinkle the inside of the crust with 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
- Using a slotted spoon, carefully spoon the meat mixture into the crust, ensuring to drain excess liquid to prevent a soggy bottom.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly across the crust.
- Top with 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown, and the crust is cooked through.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
