How to Make Fudge Brownie Sunday

  1. Bake a 9x13 inch pan of your favorite brownie mix according to package directions.
  2. While the brownies bake, let 2 pints of ice cream soften slightly at room temperature.
  3. Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the softened ice cream evenly over the top.
  4. Place the brownie-ice cream layer in the freezer while you prepare the fudge topping.
  5. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/2 cup evaporated milk, and 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter.
  6. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  7. Continue to boil for 8 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  9. Let the fudge cool completely for at least 1 hour.
  10. Pour the cooled fudge evenly over the ice cream layer. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup chopped nuts of your choice.
  11. Return to the freezer until the fudge topping is firm (at least 2 hours).
  12. Serve immediately from the freezer. Set out your favorite sundae toppings for a build-your-own bar!
