How to Make Hamburger Pastry

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown 1 lb ground beef and 1 medium onion (chopped) over medium-high heat, breaking the beef into crumbles. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Remove skillet from heat and stir in 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup finely chopped pickles, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  4. Prepare 1 (14.1 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts according to package directions.
  5. Divide the pastry dough into 8 equal portions.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 7-inch circle.
  7. Place approximately 1/4 cup of the meat mixture onto one half of each circle, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  8. Moisten the edges of the pastry with water. Fold the other half of the circle over the filling, pressing firmly to seal the edges. Crimp the edges with a fork.
  9. Place the hand pies on an ungreased baking sheet and prick the tops with a fork.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is heated through.
  11. Serve warm. Enjoy as a handheld snack, or serve on a plate with your favorite dipping sauce, such as gravy or aioli.
