How to Make Pizza By The Yard

  1. Preheat your broiler.
  2. Cut a 12-inch French baguette in half horizontally. Place both halves, cut-side up, on a broiler pan.
  3. Broil 4 inches from the heat for 1-2 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
  4. Transfer the toasted bread halves to two ungreased cookie sheets. Set aside.
  5. Turn off the broiler. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a large skillet, brown 1 pound of ground beef over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked. Break it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  7. Drain off any excess grease.
  8. Stir in 6 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1/2 cup chopped green onions, 1/2 cup sliced olives (your choice!), 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
  9. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or until heated through and the flavors have melded.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
  11. Evenly spread the meat mixture over both halves of the French bread.
  12. Top with 2 large sliced tomatoes, 1/2 cup sliced green bell pepper, and 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite pizza cheese).
  13. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.
