How to Make Spiced Fruit Tea
- Boil 8 cups of water.
- Add 6 black tea bags (or 4 Earl Grey tea bags) to a large heatproof bowl.
- Pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove tea bags and discard. Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Stir in 1 cup pineapple juice, 1 cup cranberry juice, and ½ cup lime juice.
- Remove 3 cups of the mixture and set aside.
- Cover the remaining tea mixture and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or up to 3 days.
- Pour 3 cups of the chilled tea mixture into two clean ice cube trays. Add thinly sliced kumquats to the ice cube trays, if desired.
- Cover the ice cube trays and freeze until solid.
- To serve, place several ice cubes in each glass.
- Add chilled tea mixture to fill the glasses.
- Garnish with fresh fruit slices (pineapple, cranberries, lime wedges) and/or fresh mint sprigs, if desired.
- Makes: 8 to 10 servings
