How to Make Spiced Fruit Tea

  1. Boil 8 cups of water.
  2. Add 6 black tea bags (or 4 Earl Grey tea bags) to a large heatproof bowl.
  3. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove tea bags and discard. Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. Stir in 1 cup pineapple juice, 1 cup cranberry juice, and ½ cup lime juice.
  6. Remove 3 cups of the mixture and set aside.
  7. Cover the remaining tea mixture and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or up to 3 days.
  8. Pour 3 cups of the chilled tea mixture into two clean ice cube trays. Add thinly sliced kumquats to the ice cube trays, if desired.
  9. Cover the ice cube trays and freeze until solid.
  10. To serve, place several ice cubes in each glass.
  11. Add chilled tea mixture to fill the glasses.
  12. Garnish with fresh fruit slices (pineapple, cranberries, lime wedges) and/or fresh mint sprigs, if desired.
