  2. Cut tops off peppers, remove seeds and membranes. Chop edible part of tops and set aside.

  11. Pour the remaining tomato mixture over the stuffed peppers.
  12. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until peppers are tender and filling is cooked through.
  13. If desired, top with shredded cheddar cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking, or until cheese is melted.
