How to Make Alfredo Sauce To Die For
- Melt 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Pour in 2 cups of heavy cream and heat until warm and slightly thickened. Stir frequently; do not boil.
- Reduce heat to low. Gradually whisk in 1 1/2 cups of freshly grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- For a creamier sauce, simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the parmesan is fully melted and the sauce has thickened slightly. Add any desired protein or vegetables (crab, shrimp, broccoli, chicken, asparagus, etc.) during the last 2-3 minutes of simmering, or serve immediately over your favorite pasta.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
