Ingredients for Alice Chicken

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh Mushrooms
  • Green Onion
  • Monterey Jack Cheese
  • Honey Mustard Dressing

How to Make Alice Chicken

  1. Place chicken breasts in a glass dish or bowl.
  2. Poke each breast several times with a fork.
  3. Pour Worcestershire sauce over the chicken, ensuring all breasts are coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight).
  5. Cook bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned (about 6-8 minutes).
  6. Remove bacon from skillet, drain on paper towels, and set aside. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
  7. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  8. Add sliced mushrooms and green onions. Sauté for 8-10 minutes, or until softened.
  9. Remove mushroom mixture from skillet and set aside.
  10. Preheat oven's broiler.
  11. Remove chicken from marinade, discarding the marinade.
  12. Broil chicken breasts for 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  13. During the last 2-3 minutes of broiling, top each chicken breast with 2 slices of cooked bacon and grated cheese.
  14. Continue broiling until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  15. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  16. Serve chicken breasts over the mushroom mixture. Offer a variety of salad dressings on the side for topping.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
