How to Make Angel Molasses Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter and 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in 2 large eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon ground cloves, ½ teaspoon ground ginger, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  5. In a small bowl, combine ½ cup milk and ½ teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice; let stand for 10 minutes.
