Ingredients for Apple Butter Ribs Crock Pot

  • Country Style Boneless Pork Ribs
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Onion
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Liquid Smoke
  • Garlic Cloves

How to Make Apple Butter Ribs Crock Pot

  1. Pat 3 lbs pork ribs dry with paper towels. Rub generously with 1 tbsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper.
  2. Place ribs in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  3. Top ribs with 1 large onion, thinly sliced.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup apple butter, 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tsp smoked paprika.
  5. Pour the apple butter mixture evenly over the onions and ribs.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 9 hours, or until the ribs are incredibly tender and easily pull apart.
  7. Remove ribs from crock pot and shred with two forks. Optional: return shredded ribs to crock pot for 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
