How to Make Asparagus Steamed In A Paper Bag

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) with a rack in the center position.
  2. Place 1 pound of asparagus spears in a large brown paper lunch bag.
  3. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the asparagus.
  4. Add 2 lemon slices and 1 bay leaf to the bag.
  5. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper (about 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper).
  6. Close the bag tightly by folding the top over several times and creasing the folds well to seal in the steam.
  7. Place the bag on a baking sheet and drizzle the outside of the bag with another 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Carefully remove the bag from the oven and gently shake it a few times before opening.
  10. Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter.
  11. Drizzle with an additional 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy!
