Ingredients for Bacon Broccoli Quiche

  • Frozen Deep Dish Pie Shell
  • 6 large eggs
  • Frozen Chopped Broccoli
  • Onion
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk recommended)
  • Bacon Bits
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Nutmeg

How to Make Bacon Broccoli Quiche

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Lightly brush a 9-inch pie crust with 1 tablespoon of the beaten eggs. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork.
  3. Blind bake the crust for 12 minutes. (This prevents a soggy bottom!)
  4. While the crust bakes, prepare the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together 6 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  5. Add 4 slices cooked and crumbled bacon, and 2 cups chopped broccoli florets to the egg mixture. Gently stir to combine.
  6. Remove the pie crust from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Pour the broccoli mixture into the prepared pie shell.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown in the center and the crust is cooked through. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
  9. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
