Ingredients for Baked Jam Doughnuts

  • Plain Flour
  • 5g salt
  • Caster Sugar
  • Instant Yeast
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 150ml lukewarm milk
  • Your favorite jam (about 20 teaspoons)
  • Ground Cinnamon

How to Make Baked Jam Doughnuts

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together 300g whole wheat flour and 5g salt.
  3. Stir in 100g granulated sugar and 7g active dry yeast.
  4. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture.
  5. Add 1 large beaten egg to the well.
  6. Gradually add 150ml lukewarm milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  8. Divide the dough into 20 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball.
  9. Place the dough balls onto a greased baking tray, leaving some space between each.
  10. Cover the tray with plastic wrap or a damp tea towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and well-risen.
  12. Let the doughnuts cool slightly on a wire rack.
  13. In a shallow dish, combine 50g granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
  14. Make a small incision in the side of each doughnut.
  15. Fill each doughnut with about 1 teaspoon of your favorite jam.
  16. Brush the doughnuts lightly with water, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
  17. Serve warm and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
