How to Make Baked Jam Doughnuts
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- In a large bowl, sift together 300g whole wheat flour and 5g salt.
- Stir in 100g granulated sugar and 7g active dry yeast.
- Create a well in the center of the flour mixture.
- Add 1 large beaten egg to the well.
- Gradually add 150ml lukewarm milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 20 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball.
- Place the dough balls onto a greased baking tray, leaving some space between each.
- Cover the tray with plastic wrap or a damp tea towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and well-risen.
- Let the doughnuts cool slightly on a wire rack.
- In a shallow dish, combine 50g granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
- Make a small incision in the side of each doughnut.
- Fill each doughnut with about 1 teaspoon of your favorite jam.
- Brush the doughnuts lightly with water, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
