How to Make Baked Yams With Cinnamon Chili Butter
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer, beat together 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons cinnamon, 1 tablespoon chili powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt until light and fluffy.
- Line a large baking sheet with foil.
- Wash and scrub 4 medium yams. Pierce them several times with a fork.
- Place yams directly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork.
- Remove yams from oven and let cool slightly. Slit each yam lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Spoon 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon chili butter into the slit of each yam.
- Serve immediately, passing the remaining butter separately for extra indulgence.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
