How to Make Baked Ziti
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook ziti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. Mix well.
- Add the crumbled cooked sausage and drained ziti to the ricotta mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- Stir in ¾ jar of marinara sauce.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 2-quart casserole dish.
- Pour the remaining 1 ¼ jars of marinara sauce evenly over the ziti mixture.
- Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly, and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
- To freeze: Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and freeze.
- To heat frozen ziti: Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
