Ingredients for Baklava Minis

  • Phyllo Dough
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pecans
  • Walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon honey

How to Make Baklava Minis

  1. Melt 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 30-45 seconds, or until melted. Stir to ensure it's completely melted.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the melted butter. Mix well with a spoon until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans (or a combination). Mix until the nuts are evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  5. Place the mini phyllo cups or pastry shells onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Spoon the nut mixture into each shell, filling them about ¾ full.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the shells are golden brown and the filling is fragrant.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey over the mini baklavas, dividing it evenly among the shells. A single drop per shell is sufficient.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
