  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • Butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • Pure Vanilla Extract

How to Make Anne S Liniment Cake Anne Of Green Gables

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the melted butter and milk to the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until just combined.
  4. Beat the mixture with an electric mixer for 1 minute.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract.
  6. Add the egg mixture to the batter and beat with the electric mixer for 3 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
  10. Run a metal spatula around the edges of the cakes to loosen them from the pans.
  11. Invert the cakes onto cooling racks. (Place a cooling rack on top of the cake in the pan, then flip.)
  12. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
