How to Make Banana Split Dessert

  1. In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup (113g) butter over medium heat. Add 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar, 1/2 cup (120ml) milk, and 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 8 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. While the chocolate mixture cools, melt the remaining 1/2 cup (113g) butter in a separate bowl.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter with 2 cups (200g) crushed chocolate sandwich cookies. Press this mixture into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan.
  6. Freeze for 15 minutes.
  7. Arrange sliced bananas evenly over the cookie crust. Spread 2 cups (475ml) vanilla ice cream over the bananas.
  8. Spread 1 cup (240ml) hot fudge or chocolate sauce over the ice cream.
  9. Freeze for 1 hour.
  10. Refrigerate the remaining chocolate sauce.
  11. After 1 hour of freezing, spread 2 cups (475ml) strawberry ice cream over the chocolate sauce. Top with sliced pineapple.
  12. Gently warm the reserved chocolate sauce.
  13. Cut the dessert into squares. Top each serving with whipped cream, maraschino cherries, chopped nuts, and a drizzle of warmed chocolate sauce.
