Ingredients for Barbecued Pork Sandwiches
- Boneless Pork Roast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Fresh Ground Pepper
- 1 cup prepared barbecue sauce (your favorite flavor)
- Hamburger Buns
How to Make Barbecued Pork Sandwiches
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Season the 3-lb boneless pork shoulder generously with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Heat a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot over medium-high heat for 1 minute.
- Brown the pork shoulder on all sides, about 4 minutes per side, until nicely seared.
- Pour 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce into the Dutch oven.
- Cover the Dutch oven and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds.
- Carefully remove the pork from the Dutch oven and transfer it to a cutting board. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Using two forks, shred the pork into thin pieces.
- Return the shredded pork to the Dutch oven. Stir gently to combine with the remaining sauce. Cook uncovered over medium heat for 5 minutes to thicken the sauce slightly.
- Place the hamburger rolls on a serving plate.
- Divide the pork mixture evenly among the rolls and spoon it into each roll.
- Serve immediately with coleslaw, if desired.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
