How to Make Beef Pie With Rice A Roni
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 1 cup of Rice-A-Roni and lightly brown, stirring frequently.
- Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet and brown, breaking it up with a spoon until fully cooked. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in 1 ¾ cups of boiling water.
- Add the contents of one 6-ounce package of beef-flavored Rice-A-Roni seasoning.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly (about 5-10 minutes).
- In a separate bowl, whisk 2 large eggs until well beaten. Gently stir the eggs into the Rice-A-Roni mixture.
- Pour the Rice-A-Roni mixture into a 9-inch pie crust.
- Arrange 4-6 slices of cooked bacon on top of the pie.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If the bacon isn't browned enough, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
