How to Make Cherry Crescent Ring

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a large baking sheet.
  3. Reserve 5 fresh cherries for garnish. Chop the remaining cherries (about 1 cup).
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cherries, 4 ounces (113g) softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup (30g) slivered almonds, 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Mix well.
  5. Set aside.
  6. Separate one 8-ounce can (227g) of refrigerated crescent roll dough into 2 large rectangles.
  7. Overlap the long sides of four rectangles and firmly press edges and perforations to seal.
  8. Gently roll or pat the dough to form a 15x13 inch rectangle.
  9. Spread the cherry mixture evenly over the dough.
  10. Starting at the longer side, tightly roll up the dough, pressing the edges to seal.
  11. Place the roll, seam side down, on the prepared baking sheet.
  12. Form the dough into a ring, firmly pressing the ends together.
  13. Using a sharp knife, cut almost through the ring at 1-inch intervals.
  14. Gently turn each section slightly on its side.
  15. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown. If necessary, cover with foil during the last 5 minutes to prevent excessive browning.
  16. While the ring bakes, prepare the glaze (see glaze recipe below).
  17. Drizzle the warm crescent ring with glaze.
  18. Garnish with sliced almonds and the reserved cherries.
