How to Make Golden Flapjacks

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F). Grease and line a 20cm round cake tin with parchment paper.
  2. For easy measuring, weigh the sugar first (see ingredient list), then add golden syrup directly to the sugar in the bowl to prevent sticking.
  3. In a medium saucepan, gently melt 100g butter, then stir in 150g light brown soft sugar and 100ml golden syrup. Heat gently until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 300g rolled oats.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and press down firmly with the back of a spoon to create an even surface.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  7. Let the flapjack cool in the tin for 10 minutes before using a palette knife to carefully loosen the edges and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
