How to Make New Year's Eve White Sangria

  1. Slice 1 orange and 1 lemon into ½-inch thick rounds.
  2. Place the orange and lemon slices in a large pitcher (approximately 2-gallon).
  3. Pour 1 cup white rum over the fruit. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Add 1/2 cup Grand Marnier, 1 cup Riesling, 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup vodka, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar to the pitcher.
  5. Gently stir in 2 liters of chilled club soda or sparkling white grape juice, leaving about 2 inches of space at the top of the pitcher.
  6. Add 1 large Granny Smith apple, cored and cut into bite-sized pieces, to the pitcher.
  7. Stir well, gently pressing on the fruit to release their juices.
  8. Serve immediately over ice. Garnish with extra fruit slices if desired.
  9. For additional batches using the same fruit, simply add more rum and repeat from step 4.
