How to Make Spicy Italian Sausages With Pasta Basil And Mustard

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. While pasta cooks, brown the sausages in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove sausages from skillet and set aside. Roughly chop.
  3. Add olive oil to the skillet. Add chopped sausages and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in Dijon mustard and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Add heavy cream and evaporated milk. Stir to combine.
  6. Add cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Add a little pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  7. Stir in chopped basil and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese (optional).
