How to Make Tea Loaf

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  4. Cut in 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in 1 cup chopped pecans and the zest of 1 large orange.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs, 1 cup milk, and 2 tablespoons Jack Daniel's whiskey.
  7. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Sprinkle with an additional 1/4 cup chopped pecans.
  10. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, slice and serve. Makes approximately 14-18 slices.
