Ingredients for 1St Place Banana Nut Bread

  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • Sweet Butter
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Unbleached Flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • Walnuts

How to Make 1St Place Banana Nut Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 cup milk. Stir until the milk curdles slightly. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the curdled milk mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  8. Gently fold in 3 ripe mashed bananas and 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
  9. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared loaf pans.
  10. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Start checking at 60 minutes.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
