How to Make Angel Hair Alfredo
- Cook 1 pound angel hair pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, sauté 2 cloves minced garlic in 2 tablespoons olive oil until lightly browned (about 1 minute).
- Whisk in 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon cornstarch until smooth. Season with 1 teaspoon garlic salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Gradually whisk in 2 cups milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Bring to a gentle boil, stirring continuously.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency. If needed, add a little of the reserved pasta water to thin the sauce.
- Reduce heat to low. Whisk in 4 ounces cream cheese and 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese until completely smooth and creamy.
- Stir in 1/2 cup diced cooked ham (optional).
- Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss gently to coat.
- Serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley (optional).
