How to Make Anise Pound Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube or bundt pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 3 cups all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter and 2 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon anise seeds.
  4. Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients and sour cream to the wet ingredients alternately, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
