How to Make Anthony's Favorite Stuffed Shells

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook jumbo pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. While shells are cooking, prepare the meat sauce: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and parsley. Mix well.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  8. Fill each cooked pasta shell with the ricotta mixture and arrange them in the baking dish.
  9. Pour the remaining meat sauce over the stuffed shells.
  10. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the sauce is heated through.
  12. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
