Ingredients for Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Cereal

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups water
  • Granny Smith Apple
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Almonds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons soy margarine
  • Maple Syrup

How to Make Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Cereal

  1. Rinse 1 cup of quinoa thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes any bitterness.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until all the quinoa grains are translucent and the germ has separated.
  4. While the quinoa simmers, prepare the fruit and nut mixture. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of soy margarine over low heat.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of raisins, 1/4 cup of chopped nuts, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the saucepan. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the raisins are plump and the mixture is fragrant.
  6. Add the diced apple to the fruit and nut mixture during the last 2 minutes of simmering.
  7. Once the quinoa is cooked, gently stir in the fruit and nut mixture.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your warm and delicious Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Cereal!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
