Ingredients for Asia Style Chicken Drumsticks In The Crock Pot

  • 2 lbs chicken drumsticks (approximately 6-8)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup ponzu sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Dried Oregano
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Five Spice Powder
  • Green Bell Peppers
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

How to Make Asia Style Chicken Drumsticks In The Crock Pot

  1. In a large mason jar, combine 1/2 cup ponzu sauce, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon grated ginger, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, and 1 teaspoon crumbled dried oregano. Secure the lid and shake vigorously until well blended.
  2. Pour the sauce into your slow cooker and set it to high. Place the lid on.
  3. Remove the skin from about 2 lbs of chicken drumsticks (approximately 6-8 drumsticks). Rinse, pat them dry, and rub them generously with 1 teaspoon five-spice powder. Add the drumsticks to the crock-pot sauce.
  4. While the chicken cooks, prepare 1 bell pepper (any color). Remove the core, seeds, and membranes. Cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.
  5. After 2-2 1/2 hours on high, add the prepared bell pepper squares to the crockpot. Continue cooking on high for another hour.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water to create a slurry. During the last 30 minutes of cooking, or until the sauce reaches your desired thickness, whisk the cornstarch slurry into the sauce.
  7. Check the drumsticks for doneness. The meat should easily pull away from the bone. If needed, cook for a further 15 minutes.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
