  • Paprika (optional)

How to Make Au Gratin Garlic Potatoes

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk over medium heat until bubbles form around the edges.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 10.75 ounces (1 can) condensed cream of mushroom soup, 4 ounces cream cheese (softened), 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Stir until completely smooth and creamy.

  5. Lightly butter a 3-quart baking dish.

  8. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, onions, and cheese sauce.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and the top is lightly browned.
  11. Sprinkle with paprika (optional) before serving.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
