How to Make Austin Russell White Castle Burgers Sliders
- In a large bowl, gently combine 1 pound ground beef, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Place the beef mixture between two sheets of plastic wrap. Using a rolling pin, roll the beef to a 1/4-inch thickness.
- Carefully remove the top sheet of plastic wrap and cut the beef into 2-inch squares (approximately 16 squares).
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Arrange the beef squares on top of the onions in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the burgers are cooked through. Flip halfway through.
- While the burgers are cooking, warm the slider buns in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, or according to package instructions.
- Spread mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Once the burgers are cooked, place one burger on each bottom bun. Top with one dill pickle slice.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade White Castle sliders!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
