Ingredients for Baked Steak Burritos

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • Sirloin Tip Steaks
  • 1 (15-ounce) can refried beans
  • Flour Tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Green Onions
  • 1 (15-ounce) can enchilada sauce
  • Mexican Blend Cheese

How to Make Baked Steak Burritos

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a 10-inch skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in 1 packet (1 ounce) of taco seasoning mix.
  4. Add 1 pound of beef strips and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  5. Drain any excess grease from the beef.
  6. While the beef cooks, place 1 (15-ounce) can of refried beans in a microwave-safe dish. Microwave uncovered on high for 2 minutes, stirring once or twice, until heated through.
  7. Spread about 1/4 cup of refried beans onto each of the 6 large flour tortillas, leaving a 1/4-inch border.
  8. Top each tortilla with approximately 1/6 of the cooked beef, 1/6 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and 1/6 cup of chopped onions.
  9. Carefully roll up each burrito, tucking in the sides to secure the filling.
  10. In an ungreased 13x9-inch glass baking dish, place the burritos seam-side down.
  11. Pour 1 (15-ounce) can of enchilada sauce evenly over the burritos.
  12. Sprinkle 1 cup of Mexican cheese blend over the enchilada sauce.
  13. Bake uncovered for 7-12 minutes, or until the burritos are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
