- Butternut Squash
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
How to Make Baked Winter Squash
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut the squash in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out and discard the seeds and stringy pulp.
- Place the squash halves, cut-side down, in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter and honey.
- Divide the butter-honey mixture evenly between the two squash halves, spreading it into the cavity of each.
- Sprinkle the squash evenly with salt and pepper.
- Pour 1/2 cup of water into the bottom of the baking dish.
- Bake, covered with foil, for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the squash is easily pierced with a fork and tender.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
