How to Make Baked Winter Squash

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the squash in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out and discard the seeds and stringy pulp.
  3. Place the squash halves, cut-side down, in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter and honey.
  5. Divide the butter-honey mixture evenly between the two squash halves, spreading it into the cavity of each.
  6. Sprinkle the squash evenly with salt and pepper.
  7. Pour 1/2 cup of water into the bottom of the baking dish.
  8. Bake, covered with foil, for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the squash is easily pierced with a fork and tender.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
