- Sirloin Steak
- Barbecue Sauce

- Mushroom

- 1 sub roll or bread of your choice
How to Make Basic Steak Sandwich
- Preheat grill to medium-low heat.
- Grill your steak (about 1 inch thick) for 6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to your desired doneness. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- While the steak rests, slice 1 medium onion thinly.
- Slice 8 oz of mushrooms into medium-sized pieces.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Once the steak has rested, slice it into thin strips and add it to the bowl with the BBQ sauce mixture. Toss to coat.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet. Stir frequently until softened and slightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Open your sub roll (or bread of choice).
- Add the sautéed onions and mushrooms to the bottom half of the roll.
- Top with the BBQ-coated steak strips.
- Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of ketchup (optional).
- Add the top half of the roll and enjoy your delicious steak sandwich!
