Ingredients for Basil Lemon Bow Ties

  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Clove
  • Bow Tie Pasta
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

How to Make Basil Lemon Bow Ties

  1. Cook bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat for 1 minute.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté, stirring frequently, for 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Remove skillet from heat.
  5. Add the well-drained bowtie pasta to the skillet and toss gently to coat with the garlic oil mixture. Add a tablespoon or two of the reserved pasta water if needed to create a light sauce.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped basil, salt, and pepper.
  7. Toss until the basil wilts slightly and the pasta is evenly coated (about 30 seconds).
  8. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
