How to Make Bbq Turkey

  1. Preheat grill to 325°F (160°C) for indirect medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine 4 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon chili powder, and 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter. Mix well.
  3. Rinse the turkey inside and out and pat it dry with paper towels.
  4. Carefully loosen the skin of the turkey breast and legs.
  5. Generously smear the butter mixture under the skin and all over the turkey.
  6. Quarter 2 oranges and insert them into the turkey cavity.
  7. In a roasting pan, combine 2 cups chicken broth, 1 large chopped onion, and 1 large chopped carrot.
  8. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in the prepared pan.
  9. Grill over indirect medium heat for approximately 3 hours, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 165°F (74°C). Baste the turkey with pan juices every 30 minutes.
  10. Once cooked, remove the turkey from the grill and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful bird.
