Ingredients for Beef And Bok Choy

  • 1 large head bok choy, trimmed and thinly sliced (or 2 bunches baby bok choy)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or your preferred cooking oil)
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Rump Steak
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • Sweet Sherry
  • Fresh Basil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

How to Make Beef And Bok Choy

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the bok choy. Thinly slice the leaves and set aside.
  2. Mince the garlic.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the beef in small batches, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes per batch until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  6. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan.
  7. Add the sliced bok choy and stir-fry for 30-60 seconds, until wilted but still crisp.
  8. Return the beef to the pan.
  9. Add the soy sauce and sherry.
  10. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  11. Stir in the fresh basil and sesame oil. Toss to combine.
  12. Serve immediately, garnished with red pepper strips (optional).

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
